Let’s talk about the penis!
Let’s talk about the penis!
Well, more specifically, the foreskin.
Facts:
- The foreskin is self cleaning and does not require anything more than warm water.
- Smegma forms in both uncircumcised males and females to provide natural lubrication.
- It has 240 feet of nerves and over 20,000 nerve endings.
- It has about 3 feet of veins, arteries, capillaries.
- It provides moisture and protection…much like our eyelids.
- About 38% of males worldwide are circumcised. It is most common in the Jewish and Muslim cultures, as well as in Americans. But the majority of males are intact.
- Foreskin is used in many products and is a multi-million dollar industry.
- In most states, Medicaid does not cover circumcision because it is deemed “cosmetic surgery”.
How to care for an intact penis:
- Do NOT pull the foreskin back! It will naturally retract on its own over time…usually between 1-4 years.
- Simply wash with warm water. No need for harsh soaps or cleansers…much like the vagina.
